INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN TRAINING for SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS
The goal is to provide your SMEs with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to prepare effective peer-to-peer training -- and to do so as rapidly and efficiently as possible. No classtime is devoted to theory or esoteric topics.
Participants enter the classroom with an identified training need in mind, leave with a detailed design document in hand, and receive individualized coaching throughout the materials development process. Once trained in this manner, participants become virtually self-sufficient in their ability to create additional courses.
Learning Objectives
By completing the program, participants are well-able to:
1. Apply a proven, streamlined approach to the design of fully-customized classroom training, e-learning and blended learning (i.e., a combination of traditional face-to-face training and online learning).
2. Prepare precise instructional design documents (analogous to blueprints and used to guide development of original training material and/or the adaptation of existing material).
3. Prepare training materials (e.g., instructor guides, participant manuals, projection visuals, learning objects and job aids).
4. Apply checks and balances during design and development (i.e., the writing of all training materials) to ensure training will be successful from "day one".
5. Ensure the transfer of learning from the initial place of learning to the place of its application.
6. Evaluate the effectiveness of training based on meaningful metrics.
7. Feel confident about their ability to design and develop effective training within their subject-matter niche.
Duration
This training is typically conducted with groups of 6 to 12 participants over two to three days.
